About The Artist, Laurie Blanz
I love creating hand-painted pet portraits, and I use three different media for various effects - oil paint, watercolors, and gouache (opaque watercolor, pronounced "goo-WASH"). As a pet portrait artist, I work from reference photos, expressing each animal’s personality completely, In fact, a reaction I most often hear from a client, family member, or friend when I present them with one of my dog or cat portrait paintings is that I’ve truly captured the essence of the pet. I fall in love with every animal I paint – not only portraying a likeness, but somehow feeling a connection with them.
